Ski Club Group Details

Thank you for choosing Nordic Mountain this season! Our ski clubs are an affordable way to introduce your student to something that could become a lifelong hobby. Please read this page with your student before Trip 1. Questions about your club go to your group leader (listed above), not to Nordic Mountain. Your group leader can see the roster and handles all changes for the group.

Registering

  • Every student needs a lift ticket or a Nordic season pass. A rental does not include the ticket, so students who rent buy both.
  • Season pass holders still register here using the $0 Season Pass Holder option so they appear on the roster.
  • A one-time $5 RFID card is added at checkout. That's the card the lift tickets load onto. Season pass holders already have one.
  • Register by the deadline above. Late sign-ups can often still be added, but their rental may not be ready on Trip 1.

The Rental Waiver: Please Fill It In Honestly

The waiver sets how the equipment is adjusted for your student's body. It is a safety form, not paperwork. Height and weight set the binding release. Shoe size should be the actual street size. Choose Skier Type I for nearly every first-timer. If you're unsure of snowboard stance, choose regular. Anyone under 18 needs a parent or legal guardian's signature. Without a completed waiver, we cannot issue equipment. There is no override at the counter.

Switching between ski and snowboard is free between trips with a new guardian waiver. Ask your group leader to set it up. Switching after gear has been on the snow that night costs the full $35 window price.

Weather and the Make-Up Date

If bad weather is in the forecast, Nordic contacts your group leader, and your group leader tells you. Closings are also posted by noon on our Facebook page and website. If the school or Nordic cancels a trip, the group uses its scheduled make-up date. The make-up date is for the whole group, not a personal make-up. A student who misses a trip for their own reasons goes through the credit process below.

Missed Trips and Credits

All group sales are final. A missed trip can be credited for three reasons only: illness, injury or a family emergency. No credit or refund is given for anything else, such as a schedule conflict, another activity, changing their mind or forgetting.

  • Report a missed trip to your group leader, not to Nordic. Your group leader keeps the credit list for the whole season.
  • Credits are issued as weeknight vouchers on the night of your club's final trip, so a Trip 1 credit arrives at the end of the season. Each voucher matches what your student was signed up for (ticket, or ticket and rental) and is good any weeknight for the rest of this season.
  • Tickets and rentals can't be transferred to another student or moved to a different night of the week.
  • If your student buys their own equipment mid-season and no longer needs the rental, tell your group leader right away and a refund can be arranged.

Free Lessons Every Trip

Beginner instruction is included on every trip at no cost. After leaving the rental building, head to the yurt in the beginner area. Our beginner-area staff wear bright green helmet covers. Features built into the snow teach turning and stopping step by step. Once a student can control their speed and stop on demand, staff will show them how to load, ride and unload the chairlift. Please tell your student before Trip 1 that the green helmets are the people to find. Staff won't chase students down for a lesson, and no credit is given for a lesson a student skips.

What to Wear and Bring

The biggest predictor of a good night is dry hands and feet.

  • Waterproof gloves or mittens are a must. Send a backup pair.
  • One pair of tall ski socks (synthetic or wool, not cotton), pulled up above the calf. Two pairs make feet colder, not warmer.
  • Snow pants and base layers go over the outside of the boot, never tucked in. Tight leggings don't always make the best base layer.
  • Dress in layers your student can shed, with a waterproof outer layer. Wear goggles (clear or low-light lenses for night skiing) and a neck gaiter instead of a scarf.
  • Leave at home: jeans, cotton socks and long underwear, scarves, valuables.
  • Label everything: jacket, both gloves, goggle strap and boot bag.

A helmet comes with every rental package, and we strongly recommend wearing it every trip. Students with their own equipment can rent a helmet for the season.

Rentals, Lockers and Belongings

Your group leader picks up rental cards at the group counter and hands them out outside the rental building by the plaza. Each student looks after their own equipment across all four trips. Please keep rental gear off the concrete. Coin lockers (quarters) and free cubbies are in the changing area. Students who aren't renting can use the heated red yurt outside as home base. Nordic Mountain can't take responsibility for lost or stolen items, so leave anything valuable at home or on the bus.

Food and the Lodge

Students can use the Bistro all night. A chicken tender combo with fries and a drink runs about $15. There's a gluten-free cauliflower crust pizza, and students are welcome to bring their own food for the bus. The Pub upstairs is for adults. Advisors, chaperones and parents are welcome to eat there, but please don't hold a table all evening. Students stay out unless they're looking for an adult from their group.

Conduct

Our slopes and lodge are a family-friendly place, and your student shares the hill with families and other guests. Inappropriate language toward guests or staff, or reckless skiing or riding, may result in a student's lift ticket being revoked.

Safety: Your Responsibility Code

Every skier and rider follows the national code used at all US ski areas. Please go through it with your student before Trip 1. They should know the first two by heart.

  1. Always stay in control. You must be able to stop or avoid people and objects.
  2. People ahead or downhill of you have the right of way. You must avoid them.
  3. Stop only where you are visible from above and do not restrict traffic.
  4. Look uphill and avoid others before starting downhill or entering a trail.
  5. You must prevent runaway equipment.
  6. Read and obey all signs, warnings, and hazard markings.
  7. Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.
  8. You must know how to load, ride, and unload lifts safely. If you need help, ask the lift attendant.
  9. Do not use lifts or terrain when impaired by alcohol or drugs.
  10. If you are involved in a collision or incident, share your contact information with each other and a ski area employee.

Two more things to talk about at home. Only students who can control their speed and stop on demand should ride the chairlift. It's fine to let friends go up without them. And ride slower after dark, because depth perception drops under the lights. If a student is hurt, ski patrol treats them and notifies your group leader right away.

Lost and Found

There is only one way to get lost items back. Go to nordicmountain.com/lost-items and fill out the Lost Item Form. If the item is located, our staff will contact you. Please don't call about lost items. Following the procedure keeps the lost and found organized enough to find things.

We look forward to seeing your student on the slopes this winter. Ski you soon!
